My blogs
| Introduction | I trained as a classical guitarist and as an historical musicologist. My area of study includes Renaissance and Baroque instrumental music, and I have published two volumes of music from those periods for use by both scholars and players. Over the last few years, however, I have fallen deeply in love with jazz and especially jazz played on the archtop guitar. Early in my career I performed recitals on both the classical guitar and the lute, but now all my efforts go to developing skills as an improvisational musician. This new focus drives this blog, which I hope will become a community for sharing information at all levels, from beginner to advanced. I am also hoping that contributors will not be limited to jazz guitarists, but that players of other instruments and singers will share their valuable perspectives, experience, and knowledge. |
