The Westport Woods Hotel is proud to be Ireland's greenest hotel having won many regional and national awards for the pro environmental section of Irish industry and tourism. The hotel has reduced its carbon foot print by over 75% in the last five years, changed from using oil to sustainable fuels such as wood pellet and wood chip. Recycling is the order of the day and the hotel has reduced its waste to landfill by over 80%, composting all food waste and recycling over 12 waste streams, i.e. cfl light bulbs, light and heavy plastics, bottles, paper & cardboard, aluminium, polystarium, metals and cooking oil.. The journey continues and will be added to year on year. |
