| Introduction | I graduated from La Tech in 1965 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and LSU Shreveport in 1985 with a BS in Computer Science. I retired after 31 years with AT&T/Lucent working as a Senior Plant Engineer. Shortly before retirement I became interested in Genealogy/Family History research and began to research my Jones and Colvin lines. My wife and I have done extensive research for 14 years. My family heads up the GENCOM Genealogical Computer Society in Shreveport, Louisiana and hold regular monthly meetings with some special events during the year. I am president, my wife is the editor of our monthly newsletter and my daughter is treasurer. This is one of the most enjoyable things that I have done in my life. If I could go back I would become interested in Genealogy earlier and possibly made that my main career. My wife I started doing DNA tests about nine years ago, and at the present are leading a DNA Special Interest Group associated with GENCOM. We hold monthly meetings and work with people helping them determine which DNA test to take and how to analyze their test results. |
