| Interests | HOW GEO CAME INTO BEING The seed of GEO was sown by none in particular but the common need for social security. The existence of GEO can be imputed to a series of developments which may be lists chronologically. · 7th March '07: At the wee hour, thirteen men from different communities of North Eastern Region gathered to exchange ideas on the possibility of forming an organization. These men decided to handover the responsibility to senior members of various eimi tribes. · 9th March '07: Senior members unanimously agreed on the idea of having an organization. However, as the organization will be of the people, by the people, for the people, they decided to call for a public opinion. · 14th March '07: If mirror could show the gradual progress made so far, it might have reflected only one single truth i.e. the right path being trodden together by the right people at the right time with the right spirit. The public overwhelmingly supported the seniors, which resulted in an organization (GEO) capable of providing social security to its members. Since its inception, GEO's most remarkable achievement has been its active participation in protest rally at Jantar Mantar, new Delhi, on 23rd March 2007, where fourteen (14) GEO members landed in Tihar Jail. (The protest rally was organized under the banner of the Kuki Students Organisation, Delhi-KSOD). It is our dream to keep GEO alive and kicking, and to make this dreams true, it is our responsibility to stay up and running. Now GEO has been rechristened as North East Welfare Association Gurgaon (NEWAG). |
