Introduction Growing up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, I was exposed to life on a farm. (Read "exposed" as meaning "I had to work in the garden a bunch when I would have rather been playing.") We grew the majority of the food that we ate, so I became used to working in a garden and caring for farm animals. I mistakenly assumed that everyone grew up the way that I did. Imagine my surprise when I learned in a college class that I lived in APPALACHIA and my childhood was a bit different from mainstream America! I am proud to be a mountain girl and I want to share my love of this area. For almost 20 years, I was lucky enough to use my history degree and my minor in Appalachian Studies working at living history sites. I am still very involved with history, in fiber arts, family history, and playing the mountain dulcimer. I also have a bit of a strange sense of humor, so you might get a sampling of that in my posts.
Interests Playing the mountain dulcimer, spinning, natural dyeing, knitting, quilting, Appalachian history, 19th century United States history, family history, reading and corny jokes!
Favorite Music Traditional to Classical to Rock and everything in between (except for modern country music!)
