IntroductionMark Balch is an experienced educator with nearly 30 years of service in education, including over 20 years in leadership roles. His career has fostered student achievement, emotional well-being, and academic success. He has served at both school sites and district levels, focusing on driving instructional change and creating strong community partnerships to support students. In 2023, Mark became Director of New Teacher and Migrant Support in the Kern High School District (KHSD) in Bakersfield, California. KHSD is one of the largest K-12 districts in the state, serving more than 43,000 students. In his current position, Mark G. Balch, Ed.D., oversees programs designed to support new teachers and migrant students, ensuring they have the resources and guidance needed for success in the classroom. Mark holds a doctorate in Organizational Leadership from the University of La Verne, a master’s degree in Educational Administration from California State University, Bakersfield, and a bachelor’s degree in History from The Master's College. Throughout his career, Mark has led several key initiatives. One such program is the Kern High Teacher Residency program.
