About me

Industry Arts
Occupation Singing Teacher
Location Dublin, Ireland
Introduction My mission is to spread the news that EACH PERSON HAS A UNIQUE AND PRICELESS GIFT to offer the world. Everyone and anyone can learn to express their own true art within-- By learning to “TELL THE STORY” in their hearts they can uncover their own special singing voice using the secrets of history’s great Bel Canto Opera singers.
Interests When I came back to Dublin to teach singing in the year 1983 I expanded my teaching base to include not only classical singers, but also singers from other styles of music such as Irish folk singers, pop singers, showband singers and rock and roll singers. I revolutionized the Bel Canto tradition by taking it out of the opera house and putting it into the hands (and voices) of all Irish singers. Thus a new singing tradition, unique to Ireland, was born: "Bel Canto Storytelling."
Favorite Movies Frank Merriman is a well respected singing teacher who has lectured in Ireland, England, Germany, and extensively through the United States. He has taught some of Ireland's most successful recording artists, including but not limited to: Sinead O'Connor, Samantha Mumba, Leslie Dowdall, Christy Dignam (the lead vocalist of Irish band Aslan), Ferghal McKee, Heidi Talbot (of Cherish the Ladies), Mike Hanrahan, Stockton's Wing, and many others.
Favorite Music Great singers such as John McCormack, Jussi Bjorling, Freddie Mercury, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Gladys Knight.
Favorite Books I like many books, but the books that I keep in the reception area of the Bel Canto House are Chicken Soup for the Soul and other books in the Chicken Soup series. Most importantly, THERE IS A BOOK THAT I WANT YOU TO READ. You won’t find it on any bookshelf or in any bookstore. The book is inside yourself. If you learn to read that book you will be a very rich human being. Therein lies the true key to great singing, and it belongs to YOU!!

How do you pronounce the 'g' in bologna?

I pronounce it like the Italians do. I studied Bel Canto singing with my teacher Julian Miller at his studio at the G.B. Martini Conservatorio in Bologna, Italy and london England.
