| Introduction | Born in Boston, VK McCarty was trained for the stage at the MSU, Univ of Louisville, and U of London, including vocal study with composer Herbert Howells at the Royal College of Music and at The Actors Studio. NYC credits include “Lily” (premiere) at New York City Opera, “Benedictus” (premiere) at Marymount Theater; out of town: Cyril Richard’s last show tour, “Naughty Marietta,” Aspen Music Festival soloist. She worked during the 80s and 90s in publishing, as V.P. Associate Publisher at General Media, Inc., and as a chaplain St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital, serving also as master of ceremonies for St. Ignatius Anglican Church, and later as preacher and LEM for several NJ parishes, and as Dir of Chr Formation for St. Paul’s, Chatham; she is an associate of the Comm of the Holy Spirit. Favorite destinations have included: the Holy Land, Hagia Sophia, Russian monasteries, and Canterbury. She recently edited "Through the Gates into the City: a metropolis, a seminary and a chapel," she’s Acquisitions Librarian at The Gen Theo Seminary in Chelsea, and enjoys Biblical languages, ballet and Byzantium. |
