| Introduction | Seven years ago if you had ask me to describe myself, I would have used words like creative & resilient but Jan 18, 2010 changed my life & my outlook on life forever. I am married and have five children. All beautiful, sweet spirits. But today I am only going to talk about 1 of my children, my son Christian. Christian was a golden child-everything a parent could ever want in a child. It has been said that some people light up a room just by their presence. Christian was such a person. He had a way of making you feel as though you were the most important person in the world when you were with him. But severe clinical depression is not a respecter of persons-not even the golden child. Suicide is not a selfish act, it is not a sin. Suicide is not so much about dying as it is about ending pain. It is the end result of a devastating, & debilitating illness called depression. I shall never ever recover from the loss of my child. Every day hurts, every minute hurts, and, yes, each breathe hurts; but I rejoice in the knowledge that his pain has ended. It is not how we die that defines us but how we lived. |
