| Introduction | Bangkok is a highly developed modern city sitting on an ancient town laced with canals that are now mostly highways. Glass and steel rise above ancient temples and vegetable markets compete with Carrefour and Tesco-Lotus. The center of town is over run with tourists and an estimated 60,000 expats. The fringes are a mish-mash of urban and rural, wealthy and poor, and food. Everywhere there is food. Street stalls, roadside restaurants, 5 star hotel bars, and everything in between. |
