| Introduction | I first traveled to Mutare, Zimbabwe in 1998 through the United Methodist Church on a three-week mission trip that changed my life. From the first moment I arrived at Fairfield Orphanage, I knew this was the place God wanted me to be. After another two-month visit in 2002, I moved to Zimbabwe in 2004 where 12 new children's homes had been built to replace the old orphanage. I currently live at Fairfield Children's Homes with 80 of my favorite children, helping to expand programs that assist orphans still living with relatives in the nearby villages. These programs are known as Project HOPE, offering medical, nutritional and educational support to 200 orphaned children. The people in Zimbabwe have struggled with a crashing economy, political unrest and the crushing AIDS epidemic. Their continued faith and strength through these difficult times is truly a story worth telling. It is a privilege to speak on their behalf. |
