IntroductionThe blog Sculpturing Words was established in 2008 when I started my PhD-study. The PhD-project was about young children’s meaning negotiation during their explorative and creative play with three-dimensional materials. The double metaphor in the title (sculpturing as a verb, and as an adjective) is supposed to illustrate the project’s focus on relations between different forms of communication, modes of understanding and meaning making. By the end of the PhD-project (2011) the study changed the name to "Negotiating Grasp" due to my new insights about relations between children's physical, embodied and mental grasping. The thesis is also called Negotiated Grasp, however the name of the blogg remains the same. The short texts presented here have ambiguous links to the project that ended in 2011. My intention is to continue to writing (once a month or so) my reflections about meetings with young children, visual arts, multimodal communication, imagination, materials, creativity, pedagogical documentation, teaching, research, conferences, and my own negotiations of meaning.
