Introduction “Painters should see things aggressively, then make something,”…. Alex Katz My work is sympathetic to the Pacific Northwest, and the men and women who work in the timber industry. My process is an extension of a cutter’s work ethic, do it right the first time, as quickly as the best job will allow, always searching for a better method. I was raised in Mendocino, a small art community on California’s Pacific coast. At an early age I became acquainted with artists, so as a youngster, my desire to become a painter was natural. Marriage and the demands of life caused me to settle in northeastern California. When the opportunity surfaced to pursue painting, my experiences, heritage, and surroundings, became my subject matter.
