Introduction Coming from a developing country, it was not so much in our repertoire to speak about sustainable and ethical fashion or living. We just lived! Most of us naturally adopted a sustainable lifestyle, where reappropriating material objects was part of the magic of childhood. Fresh milk was delivered by "Uncle" who milked his cows not too far from our house, and our chickens came from a family friend's farm outside of the country's capital. However, living abroad has made me less aware of where things come from and how much waste is involved until I rekindled my friendship with Emma H. who told me all about her perspective on fairtrade, and ethical fashion. This conversation triggered an interest in understanding ethical fashion from an international development standpoint, marrying my love for fashion with that for sustainable development and human rights issues.
