About me

Location San Francisco, California
Introduction Creating furniture and sculpture has been a path of experimentation with ceramic, metal, and finally wood, my medium of choice. I have studied and worked with a diverse number of artists, sculptors, and furniture builders in the Bay Area, New York, and Buenos Aires. After receiving a B.A. in United States History from UC Santa Cruz, I began my formal art education at City College of San Francisco, where I studied ceramic sculpture under Oliveria Quesada. I then continued as a full time art student at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, where I became connected with and worked for New York metal sculptors Joel Perlman and John Clement. After six months of travel, work, and inspiration in South America, I returned to San Francisco in April of 2006 and began a series of apprenticeships with local woodworkers. The most prominent of these was Michael Bock, an award-winning furniture designer that taught me the fundamentals of woodworking, and set me on the path of becoming a furniture maker. I currently work out of my studio in the Bernal Heights neighborhood of San Francisco.
