Introduction	5 years ago, I ended my 30 year marriage that had been unhappy from the very beginning. My children range in age from preteens to married with children of their own. I soon discovered that my older children were more unsettled by the divorce than the younger ones were. The younger children discovered a happy mom that was rather easy to live with, although knowing how to set realistic boundaries, and a home filled with laughter instead of shouting. The older ones were unsettled by the change of status quo and rushed to fill the vacuum by imitating their dad's abuse of me.
