| Introduction | I am a retired State Policeman and a follower of Jesus Christ. I am married, have two children and 5 grandchildren. My journey from State Police trooper to a Pastoral Care Pastor seems odd at first. Looking back and understanding that God can do all things, yes even bringing salvation to a cop and turning his heart from evil to good has increased even my faith in God. I was exposed to church most of my life but never understood the good news that Jesus came to give us eternal life and guide our lives while we are here on earth until I was almost 10 years into my police profession. Dealing with peoples hurts and wounds like Jesus would have me too has been both challenging and rewarding. Going from demanding (like a police supervisor does sometimes) to inviting and encouraging has once again allowed me to see the handiwork of our Lord. Only He could have made this change in me and then cause it to work for His glory. I now understand the reasons why He did now allow me to enter the ministry shortly after salvation, He wanted me to integrate my life experiences, especially those as a policeman, and thus help the people He has called us to Sheppard. |
