| Introduction | I am a 3rd grade teacher in a small district in New Jersey. Prior to teaching general education, I taught special education for 5 years; two of these years working for the NYC DOE. My teaching philosophy aligns with the UDL principles that aim to make my instruction, and my instructional materials, accessible to ALL my students. To this end, I try to incorporate as many techniques. modalities, strategies, and "tricks of trades" as possible. In addition to this, I have also become increasingly interested in Brain Based Learning and discovering how the brain learns. As a result, I started using Whole Brain Teaching in my classroom last year. The difference in engagement and retention in my students is incredible and I look forward to implementing even more of the WBT philosophy and techniques into my classroom this year! |
