| Introduction | In late 2010, my health decided to leave me, without my permission. I suddenly started having debilitating migraines and vertigo (hence the nickname “Dizzy G”). I had to quit my job and spent all my time looking for answers. I tried about ten different medical specialists, drugs, acupuncture, massage therapy, osteopathy, diet changes and a steel bracelet that was supposed to take the toxins out of my body. Yup, I was busy. When I wasn’t in bed. I discovered that I was super gluten-intolerant--ugh. Haven’t (purposely) eaten gluten in more than two years. And I still felt like crap... I'd given up all my favorite foods (deep-dish pizza, Krispy Kreme, In-N-Out spongy burger buns, garlic bread…) and I was still 20-30 pounds overweight! Three or four days a week, I didn't even have the energy to SPEAK to my husband at 6 p.m., let alone exercise or socialize. As Garth Brooks put it, "I'm much too young to feel this damn old." In May 2013, I watched the movie, "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" and the next day, I began my own juice fast re-boot. I’m not a nutritionist; I’m not even a good cook. I’m just a dizzy 51-year-old woman, trying to regain her life. |
