My blogs
| Interests | Significant Other or SO This is the term we, who love someone with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) call ourselves. All of us have very different stories, but I am hoping that this blog may offer some hope, help or insight into the life of someone who lives as an SO. I married a beautiful young lady in 1994. When we began our journey together. Neither of us understood what lay hidden beneath the surface. My wife, we would discover later, had been so severely abused as a child that she split into a number of alternative personalities (15). This means that I have spent more than 20 years trying to figure out how to love, serve and support the system of personalities, which comprise my wife. While there is increasingly more being written about and for those who suffer with DID, there is still very little help available for SO’s. I hope that the posts in this blog will be useful but I think the success of this space will depend on you and your input. I would love it if you made others aware of this blog, your counselor, your loved ones counselor or other SOs that you may become aware of. Tom |
