| Introduction | Living life fully is an admirable goal and one we're encouraged (or should I say pressured) into doing by every form of new-agey media we encounter. But the contradiction lies in how to accomplish that worthy goal with all we "have to do," especially at a time in life when many of us have gotten so deeply embedded into the grooves of the lives we've made for ourselves over our 50+ years, as well as feeling the instinct to take care of all those who've come to rely on us. Sure, eliminating some items from the perpetual "to do list" helps, and some of that happens naturally with time (and children growing up). But priorities that shift just a bit (for whatever reasons), along with an open eye onto the old world, seem to be showing me something new every day. And with it has come a new appreciation of the old, and a desire to reach for opportunities to experience the new. |
