Introduction My testimony: I've always believed, as long as I can remember, but I didn't always follow Christ. Still, I called myself a Christian, long before I ever really was. It was when I actually read the entire Bible that I got serious about it and through a one day WOTM "crash course", I realized the importance of repentance, and what sin really was. Not just some general term of something that everyone has done, but my own personal rebellion against the loving God who had created me, and with very serious consequences. It wasn't an offense against man when I told a lie, but a sin against the holy eternal Creator of the universe. That's why punishment is eternal, because we've sinned against an eternal God. And eternal torment in hell is exactly what we all deserve. It was my disobedience that Jesus suffered and died for, taking my place, paying the penalty that I deserved. When I understood this, I could really comprehend sin as exceedingly sinful (Romans 7:13) and truly see my hopelessness. Then I could understand the sacrifice, and begin to grasp what was done for us, and what I had to do to accept it. The Lord has been working in me slowly over time and continues to do so.
