| Introduction | I am an entrepreneur best known for founding the environmental products and services group Straight plc, which is the leading supplier of waste and recycling containers in the UK. Over the 21 years since 1993 the business grew from just me and a desk to a £30m turnover company with a listing on the London Stock Exchange AIM market. I successfully exited the business in 2014 when it was acquired by the Irish One51 Group. Since leaving the business I have "gone plural" and sit as a non-executive director of water saving NGO Waterwise, art gallery The Tetley, creativity charity IVE and food reuse charity The Real Junk Food Project. I am also founder and trustee of The Straight Charitable Trust, as well as being involved a number of other consultancy roles. I am 52 years old. I sport a distinctive waxed moustache and a ponytail - which was quite unusual for the CEO of a listed company but worked for me. I live in Leeds, UK. Married to Philippa with two young children. Vegan. Street photographer. (Instagram @straightpix). Wearer of eclectic spectacles (Instagram @straightspex), occasional TV presenter. |
