| Introduction | I am the former editor of British trade rag PharmaTimes Magazine, and have written about the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry for more than seven years. Originally from New Zealand, I started my journalism career at one of New Zealand’s largest daily newspapers, the Otago Daily Times. I have lived in London for the past nine years and I am now a freelance healthcare journalist chasing my dream to be an adventure travel writer. I am particularly interested in stories where science, healthcare, psychology and adventure travel meet. The quest I believe people today find it easy to get stuck in a ‘nothing job’, ending up with an identity crisis and questioning who they really are and what makes them happy. I am of the mind that to know yourself you must challenge yourself. Having done the nine-to-overtime drill for several years, and with a milestone birthday looming, I realised I needed to change tracks. And so my hot peak adventure was born: 40 volcanoes by the age of 40 – a feat to be achieved within five and a half years. So the quest begins.
