Introduction Two years ago Jadon had spinal fusion surgery. His doctors placed two titanium rods in his back to hold his spine in place while it healed. Sometime last winter, the first of the rods broke and the second rod broke in July. With both rods broken, he had trouble sitting up or walking due to the pain. On August 10, his doctors did another surgery to try to replace the broken rods. Unfortunately, his body wasn't happy with the new rods and after a very long surgery, they took the new rods out. Jadon has been wearing an external brace (his turtle) since he came home from the hospital. Right now, he is doing pretty well, but he needs to have the rods put back. On October 11, Jadon will be going in for surgery to place a halo on his head. He will be at the hospital in halo-traction for 4 weeks as the doctors and PTs stretch his spinal cord slowly. Once traction is over, his doctors will place the rods in his back on November 7. With recovery, that means he will be spending 5 weeks in the hospital. He will also have to celebrate his 9th birthday in the hospital on November 6.
