IntroductionYes, we can do it! We are the women in Canada who fought in the Second World War. Before the war began, women strictly worked only as nurses or factory workers. But as the war progressed, it became clear that the military needed more people. To cope with the increasing demand for soldiers, the Canadian Government agreed to allow women to join the war effort. In July 1940, the first Royal Canadian Air Force Women’s division was created. The Canadian Women’s Army Corps followed suit in August. The Women’s Canadian Naval Service was established in July 1942. Together, we represent the determination and courage that women had shown during the war. We are women, we are fighters, and we never give up!
