Introduction	I have always hated the word "widow." Both my grandmothers, and my mother, were and are "widows." And now so am I; and at an age that is neither young nor old. My world ended February 21, 2012 when John died, just four days shy of his 56th birthday. Actually, it came crashing down the year before, on January 13, 2011 when he was first diagnosed with esophageal cancer. A friend and, sadly, fellow widow because of the same disease, calls cancer "a beast." It's not a beast; it is Satan on earth. I don't believe the devil exists. Unfortunately, I know without a doubt that cancer does. With the love and support of friends and God, I will continue to walk the path on this journey called life. Alone, but with John in my heart. Forever in my heart.
