| Introduction | I have always liked to draw and color and make clothes for Brenda Starr paper dolls. Then I grew up and I took a class to learn how to throw pottery on a wheel. It was a spiritual experience, centering the mud, opening it, and pulling it up into a shape. Then I discovered watercolor glazes and began drawing and painting pictures in my bowls and on my vases. When I moved to Brasil, I had to leave all my pottery equipment behind, but I reasoned if I could draw and paint with my hand all "scrunched" up inside a bowl, I certainly could learn to draw and paint on a flat piece of paper. The love affair began and no threat of it "melting" down any time soon. I love to read as well, if I don't have a brush in hand, I have a book in hand. I was born and raised on a ranch in the west, but always dreamed of living on a beach. Didn't matter where, I just dreamed of doing it. Today I know I'm no longer dreaming when I take my cup of morning tea out to the balcony and view the beautiful cerulean waters of the Atlantic only 2 blocks away. I'm home at last. |
