Introduction Secretary to the Don Gorge Community Group. I retired as a secretary in July 1996 to travel in a motorhome in Europe with my husband, Mick. He was doing a Dip in Horticulture and this was his second year work experience, working as a volunteer in chateaux and botanical gardens for three weeks at a time. However, he also worked for three months in the Alameda Gardens in Gibraltar whilst we stayed with our son and his family, new age travellers living in Spain. From 1988-96, I worked as Secretary to the Council for Social Responsibility of Derby Diocese and, from 1991-94, studied for a Dip in Theology and Pastoral Studies. On our return from Europe, I was employed for six months helping to organise the 10th Anniversary Celebrations of Faith in the City at Coventry Cathedral. During our year out, I wrote "A Year on the Road", a series of theological reflections based on our experiences, which is now available from Amazon. I have since written "Two Lives", newly published on Amazon, which tells the story of my relationship with our son, which may be helpful to those who are experiencing addiction problems within their family.
