| Introduction | When I was young, I read about the 17th century salons of France that were attributed to the happening of the Enlightenment Period. French men and women began to move away from doubtful tradition, irrationality, tyranny and superstition that prevailed in the Dark Ages to an Age of Reason because socialite women began hosting parties "either to please or to educate".
