Introduction I am a forty-something writer/educator who in between raising my three spirited girls recently completed a master's degree in literacy. I have been in education for the last 20 years: as a sixth grade teacher in Los Angeles, as a curriculum director for Edison Schools, and since publishing my How Artists See series (Abbeville Press), as a presenter and visiting author at schools all over the country. I've written education materials for The National Museum of American History, USA Today, MTV, Black Entertainment Television, CNBC, Bravo, and Random House Children's Books, among others. I also write the monthly Clip & Save piece for Arts & Activities magazine. I have an amazing husband who always encourages me to reach for what ever new "thing" takes my fancy, be it writing books or selling vintage handbags. My three girls are the most important part of my life and make the "fame and fortune" of being a published author seem rather insignificant in comparison. We all share our life with a big, black, dentally-challenged mutt named Hoss and a cool character named Mikey Boy the cat.
Interests Reading, gardening, tennis, crossword puzzles, hunting for and collecting vintage handbags, crafting with vintage textiles and jewelry
Favorite Movies Tootsie, Cabaret, Gone with the Wind, Stagecoach, Grand Illusion, Back to the Future, Midnight Run, The First Wives Club, Almost Famous, The Terminator...to list just a few that popped into my head.
