About me

Occupation Writer, editor, university professor, author
Location Tempe, Arizona, United States
Introduction DASH is my pen name. Initially it was a fashion label I made up as a budding costume designer at the drawing board. Whether dressed as Cuddles the Clown or to lead a workshop in humor writing or intercultural interviewing, I view success as a shared result. Little known about me is that I write chick lit, creative nonfiction, am a published poet and my paintings have been sold by a Chicago art gallery. I specialize in media analysis, content analysis, and writing and editing about science and the environment. Over time I've worked with several of the nation's top companies and news outlets, universities both in the U.S. and overseas, and led writing workshops for assorted professional organizations. At WMAQ-TV, NBC-Chicago, I was called a creative catalyst by the news director, a label that has stuck throughout my career, whether as a writer, promoter or analyst. I enjoy reading stories, and would like to know yours. Please be in touch!
Interests I write about science, the environment, education and technology; lead workshops in interviewing techniques and intercultural communication in the workplace, specifically about cultural differences in listening; directed research in information policy; have an interest in knowledge management; love kayaking, hiking, skiing, composing music on piano and guitar and oil painting.
