Introduction	I'm a long-time freelance reporter for PEOPLE magazine, home cook, self-proclaimed foodie, and true bargain hunter. I always keep it real when it comes to food and shopping. I’m not afraid to send food back and ask for things just the way I like them, though I do my best to appreciate all food as creative expression. I don’t mess around when it comes to shopping and I don’t like to pay more than I should. I’ve scoured TJ Maxx clearance racks for $5 Theory tops, $10 Catherine Malandrino sweaters, and $30 Alice & Olivia dresses. I have over ten years of experience in the journalism/broadcast field. I'm also a PhD candidate in cultural anthropology. I was born in South Central, raised in Riverside, went to college at NYU and grad school at the University of Michigan. Now I'm back in LA doing dissertation fieldwork, working for People, and appreciating the city I was born in.
