| Introduction | In order to achieve my educational goals I have structured my life at the risk of conforming to an image, an ideal that American society has always impressed upon the generations of it's future and has failed to produce. Most people spend their whole life trying to control circumstances and think that by working harder or doing better they will achieve happiness and satisfaction. My dream is to escape the pressures of society and to be free from the illusion of wealth and success. Instead of fighting the world around me, I want to be transformed by it. I want to be refined by the differences that can be found throughout the world - differences in opinion, culture, religion, world-view, upbringing and personal experience. All of these things are what make us unique and individual, and they should be celebrated, not compromised, in the presence of those who are different. |
