| Introduction | I am a retired homeschooling mom. I have twin daughters who have graduated college and are in the working world. I miss my homeschooling life, but am thrilled to see my daughters doing well as they make their own way. I am learning to enjoy my new life with its freedoms and new experiences, still, it's hard to stop being a homeschool mom! I retired from homeschooling in 2009, when I ‘officially’ graduated my daughters from homeschool-highschool. For me, it was a challenge to reinvent myself. Homeschooling my daughters was the best part of my life, and without it, there was a huge loss. My homeschooling life was not just a calling, it was also tied to most of my social life and I had to find a new way to incorporate my homeschool friends, without attending homeschool events. I'm happy to say, I've accomplished that. It didn't help that I moved 250 miles away from my community, but FaceBook, for all its criticism, has helped maintain those connections. I have maintained my friendships, in person and on social media. Embrace your new life as a retired homeschooling mom! It's all about you now. I look forward to hearing about your journey through homeschooling. |
