| Introduction | I blog by the title, The Prophet, but it has little to do with foretelling the future. A prophet in the biblical tradition speaks the Word of God to the people of God. Such is the sense in which I "prophesy" on this blog. While I don’t have a great deal of experience – I’ve pastored three churches for a total 15 years – I have long had a passion to know the Biblical story and to share it with others. My passion is to help folks read and understand the biblical story. For indeed, the Bible is a story - it is a love story - a story of God creating, judging and saving the world. In my experience as a bi-vocational pastor, I have met few Christians who are aware of this story. So at the heart of this blog lies my desire is to help those who are interested in doing so, learn it. Of course, knowing the story will have practical implications for interpreting any particular Bible passage and for Christian living. These also, I hope to address. |
