| Introduction | I have no concrete aspiration of what I'd like to do with myself and my English degree once I graduate, but I like to think I'll be doing something creative and influential. My friends are unfailing and I love them. My parents have provided me with so many opportunities to study in great schools, and to visit the finest places. The American West, Paris, even Cabo, Mexico. My passions? Spanish seduces me. A rolling "r," chic Madrid, the musky air of a winery in La Rioja, a sultry bar in Cabo- todo es enticing. Art is an exploration through time, and medium. Poetry quickens my pulse. To make words resonate beautifully through the ear, make them sync perfectly with a tapping foot, create an Audenesque eeriness that creeps inch by inch through a reader's skin, that is truly a gift. The moon catches my breath. I love how the light splashes over the Okatie River. I'd like to end every night with a Lowcountry thunderstorm. The kind when you can't tell where the rain is coming from or going to, when hazy lightning illuminates the horizon in sync with the slowly rolling thunder that culminates in a crash as though God himself tripped and fell down to earth. |

If you were a pirate, how would you avoid laughing when saying 'poop deck'?
There's no way I couldn't laugh when saying that.
