| Introduction | Chances are I’ll love a film if... It’s a road movie featuring existentialist musings or a nihilistic conclusion of some kind, full of old school Rob Bottin gore effects featuring loads of goo and no CGI whatsoever, a giallo that considers the soundtrack considerably more important than a denouement that makes any kind of sense, a neo-noir, a ‘world cinema’ film featuring people in ghetto’s/favela’s/slum’s needlessly killing each other, a Shock The Bourgeois! Type film, a Kill the Bourgeois! Type film, it’s got Schwarzenegger marching around like an unstoppable ubermensch and it was made sometime before 1992, it features a zombie apocalypse, it’s got Harry Dean Stanton in it, it’s Herzog putting his life on the line to realise some insane venture yet again, it’s set in Paris or New York, it features stoners/slackers/general mid 20’s malaise types so that I feel I can really connect with them... man..., it’s got Warren Oates in it, it makes any sort of reference or allusion to Hunter S. Thompson, it’s rockin’ a Michael Mann esq mise-en-scene, it’s a ‘psychological’ horror, it’s based in a dystopian near future, it’s nuts enough to make El Topo look sensible |
