| Introduction | Brothers and sisters in the Advance Guard, The events of Hurricane Katrina had a profound effect on me. I wrote this “Open Letter” only as way to focus my feelings with no intention to show it to anyone. It was with the encouragement of close friends that I decided to share it with others. After some feedback I thought I would do what I do and render it in some video form that would express my vision a bit more. It seems to have its own life now and has begun open up a number of opportunities to dialogue on these topics. I always thought that the most important thing I could do was demonstrate in my relationships the possibility of these principles. I have tried to develop the kind of personality that could break down the barriers that still exist between blacks and whites and demonstrate through the content of my character the genuine sincerity of my intentions. I still believe that this is the most important thing I can do, whoever, the mirror that was put to my face after Katrina challenge me to ask, is there more that can do?
