| Introduction | I stumbled upon making jewelry in March 2003. A friend & I were spending a girls day together shopping. We went to an art show & then to the mall. We walked into a store that had a bunch of bins with stones & beads. She wanted to pick out some beads to make a bookmark, I wandered around looking at candles. She was taking forever, so I finally decided to join her & pick out some beads to make a bookmark also. I made that first bookmark & I was HOOKED! I had to make earrings next, then a necklace, then lots of earrings & necklaces! & within a couple months I was selling in a local boutique & a local craft show. Over the years as my skills developed & I started using higher quality materials, I got into high-end boutiques & galleries & started selling in art shows. The boutique/gallery venue is pretty time-consuming, so I now focus on summer art shows & my website, www.symphonyjewels.com. But I would like to get back into the retail market someday as well. I have a regular full-time job & baby #2 on the way. So finding time can be tricky. But my jewelry business has been my passion for almost 10 years now. I need it in my life, as much as possible!! |
