| Introduction | My affinity for plants developed while exploring forests with my family in Maine as a child. After being introduced to the art of bonsai and basic plant physiology concepts in high school, my curiosity with the subject of botany grew. I spent one year in Gettysburg College studying biology before transferring in order to study plant biology at the University of Vermont. Upon graduation in 2010 with a B.S. in botany I traveled to Idaho to work for the Bureau of Land Management as a Biological Technician. This seasonal position lasted from June to September, after which I returned to Vermont for two months before being offered an internship with the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation as a Native Plant Nursery Intern. This internship lasted six months and was followed another six-month volunteership as an Environmental Educator through AmeriCorps/Maine Conservation Corps for the Belgrade Regional Conservation Alliance. This blog is to explore and share thoughts I develop in my personal and professional pursuits. |
