| Introduction | It is time for me to turn my passion for closing the race-based achievement gap towards my hometown of Berkeley, CA. Since graduating from UC Berkeley in 2001, I have been working in education. I was a 3rd grade teacher in Mississippi (as a Teach for America corps member). I then taught 5th grade for two years in England and trained teachers for 8 months in India. I spent 5 years on staff at Teach for America training and coaching teachers and staff members. Which brings me to the present- and my focus on BUSD. My husband teaches Biology at BHS. My baby and 4 nieces and nephews currently or will attend Berkeley Public Schools. This blog is my space to learn, share and collaborate with others who want to see ALL students in Berkeley, CA receive an excellent education, regardless of the color of their skin or the amount of money in their bank account. |
