Introduction Having spent a large part of my life living and birding in London I now find myself living close to the wild North Norfolk coast, a place I have always loved. Regularly walking through the sueda and over 8 miles of shingle to the end of Blakeney Point and back gives me the opportunity to watch thousands of migrant birds heading in and out of the UK each Spring and Autumn. I also love observing migrants in world hotspots like Kolka in Latvia where I lead tours with David Lindo (aka The Urban Birder) I have seen over 450 species of bird in the UK. These include extreme rarities such as: Tree Swallow, both Murrelets, Grey tailed Tattler, Harlequin Ducks, Red breasted Nuthatch, Yellow-throated Vireo, Cream-coloured Courser, Sandhill Crane and Blue Rock Thrush. Most were seen during a crazy 'twitching period' in the 1990's but these days I prefer to try and find my own rare birds, without much success! But hopefully, some day ...... (All photos were taken using just my iPhone .. hence the poor quality!)
