Introduction I grew up taking care of the flower beds around my big southern farmhouse in Georgia, then graduated from the University of Georgia with a BA in Botany. moved to New Jersey, where I took Master Gardener training from Rutgers Cooperative Extension. My volunteer time was interrupted when I started employment as a 4-H Program Associate, where I encouraged inner-city youth to grow their own vegetables. After I retired, I volunteered at the Union County Trailside Nature and Science Center, taking care of their wildlife gardens. I moved to Iowa, where I completed the Iowa State University Johnson County Master Gardener training and have served several years as a MG volunteer, working with both preschoolers and veterans. I have also worked with other MG at the Plum Grove historical site.
