| Introduction | My name is Debbie, the creative mind behind Babycakes Boutique. I started doing hand embroidery and sewing when I was 9 years old. When I got pregnant I made all my daughter's layette because I couldn't find anything I like in in the stores. When my daughter was born in 1995, I discovered hand smocking, heirloom sewing and doll making. Some of my creations had been published in a Smocking and Heirloom Magazine. My first business was selling hairbows and beaded socks. I couldn't find fancy hairbows that would go with her outfits so I decided to make them and eventually started selling them. She had outgrown these "fancy clothes" and I wanted another creative outlet. I personally draft all patterns used and all Babycakes Boutique bags and accessories are all handmade by me with great attention to detail and craftmanship.
