| Introduction | I'm Claire, a mum of two boys aged 6 and 4. I fell into this slightly more "Gentle Parenting" way as being so detached from your baby seemed so unnatural to me. I had a few "rod for your own back" comments which I ignored and was even given a book by a famous parenting "expert" with the initials GF which I destroyed. My first little boy, Ollie, was born by emergency caesarean (also known as following hospital protocols) I breastfed for a week, thanks to crap support, and I listened to more of the mainstream way of parenting.Then came Harrison, I hired an amazing independent midwife and had my VBAC I breastfed for 2.5 years and we co- sleep. Along the way I have set up a gentle parenting group which has now been passed onto the AP group and I have helped with sling meets. I have tried so hard to be a "gentle parent" but some days it's just impossible! Going from one child to two almost broke me. I can be an amazing parent to one.. any one! When you have two kicking off, and somewhere to be, it all goes to pot! My blog is an attempt to make those mums out there, who try and follow a more gentle parenting method but often cock up along the way, feel less alone. |
