About me

Introduction We are Roger and Jean [and Benny the cat]. In August 2012 we rented out our house in Leamington Spa, and moved on to our narrowboat Vincent Joseph, to spend a year afloat, and travel more of the canal network than our familiar territory on and around the Grand Union. Vincent Joseph is a 61ft ‘trad’ style steel narrowboat, built in 1981 by Les Allen, which we bought to replace our previous 40-footer, in order to have enough room to live aboard for a year. During the winter months we stayed fairly close to home, moving every couple of weeks to comply with our status as ‘Continuous Cruisers’. Being slow to catch up with modern technology, we only decided to start a blog in May 2013, once we had embarked on our travels proper. We have therefore summarised our life on the boat from Aug 2012–April 2013 by month, in reverse order– much of it probably only of interest to ourselves, so feel free to skip!
