Introduction I grew up on a farm. I don't know how much of my youth was spent actually LIVING on Grandpa's farm, but I do recall skipping over cow pies, being pecked by chickens for stealing their eggs, and reminding myself not to grab the electric fence when I slipped in the mud around the fishing ponds. The ponds were small, yet somehow big enough to be deemed Ray's Lakes (Ray being my Grandpa), where I'm told the Osmonds (Donnie and Marie included) would gather for a day of fishing. I can't say whether I ever shook hands with an Osmond, but I do remember the fishing poles at the back door and the food locker filled with dirt and bait worms sitting against the back of the house. I've been fishing for as long as I can remember, though I never had to actually gut a fish until my teen years, when I caught a fish with my bare hands at the city celebration. At one point in my life, I lived on Elm Street. My dreams were never haunted by a man in a striped sweater (though I do sometimes wonder if I'm haunted by something), but my dad does like to tell a horrifying story involving my sister and I in the bathtub. I'd rather you not ask him about it, but I'm sure he'll tell it to you anyway.
