| Introduction | I'm not really Anne Bronte. (Nor are my sisters are not named "Emily" and "Charlotte," and none of us have written any masterworks of English literature. (Yet.)) But she wasn't using the "Acton Bell" pseudonym, and I've always thought it was a really cool one. I hope she wouldn't mind my borrowing it, or my making free with the names of some of her settings and characters. It is all meant as homage, Miss Bronte. What I am is a tenant in a subsidized housing complex for the elderly and disabled. Before I qualified for residence here by becoming disabled, I was a mechanical/materials engineer. I did a lot of design work and project engineering for construction projects, which gives me a very informed perspective on our housing agency's maintenance and improvement activities. That perspective has helped give rise to my opinions on the subject, and those opinions has given rise to this blog. (And I'm also into eggheaded literary references.) |
