Introduction In 2013, the first limited production of Café Vega roasted, ground coffee was initiated with beans sourced from established estates in the east and south of Trinidad. Currently medium, dark, espresso and premium roasts are available. Evaluation of many of the local varieties of coffee that have been grown here since the 1800's have led to the selection of a few really impressive cultivars that produce excellent coffee. Café Vega uses only specially hand selected, superior varieties of Robusta coffee grown in Trinidad and Tobago. No chemicals were used in the production of the coffee which comes from old, shaded plantations in the countryside. The initial processing of the coffee beans utilizes the age old traditions harnessing natural sunlight. However, the roasting applies science, technology and artisanal approaches that build on the techniques used by my grandparents. We can also roast and blend our coffee to our customer's specification...just the way they really like it!
